Scripture
The Prophet Micah Chapter 6 verse 8
What is good has been explained to you, man;
this is what Yahweh asks of you;
only this, to act justly,
to love tenderly
and to walk humbly with your God.
The Prophet Isaiah Chapter 10 verse 1-2
Woe to the legislators of infamous laws.
to those who issue tyrannical decrees,
who refuse justice to the unfortunate
and cheat the poor among my people of their rights,
who make widows their prey
and rob the orphans.
From the NewTestament, Luke 16: 19-31
Comment : The story of the rich man (nation) and Lazerus is unique to
Luke.
It does not condemn a person (nation) because of evil doing, but because
of
not noticing a fellow human (nation) who is in need.
What you can do!
We urge Australians to request that the Australian government:
- Reconsider its obligations to East Timor, our neighbour, on grounds
of justice and fairness.
- On these grounds, provide more than fair terms
in the current Timor Gap agreements, to assist the new nation
to be self-sufficient and prosperous, to share our good fortune.
